Dr. Samuel White, III is the proud son of Samuel White II and Anna White.
He graduated with honors from Brockport State College, earned a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a Master of Divinity from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University.
Dr. White pastored United Methodist Churches from 1984 to 1995. He became the senior pastor of the historic Friendship Baptist Church located in Detroit Michigan in 1996. He served as the President of the Michigan Progressive Baptist Convention and received the President Progressive National Baptist Award, Rev. Charles Hill Award, and the Detroit Minister of the Year Award. Dr. White is the recipient of many city , state and civic awards.
Dr. White served as the Academic Dean and professor at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary, where he instructed seminarians from a wide variety of faith traditions and ethnic backgrounds. He has taught workshops and courses on Grief Ministry, Spiritual Care for Souls, Healing for the Soul, Care for the Aging and Dying, New Testament, Church History and Field Education for Ministers.
Dr. White is the Spiritual Care Manager for PACE of Southeast Michigan, which provides spiritual, medical, social, and emotional care for over seven hundred and fifty adults. Dr. White developed the Spiritual and Bereavement Programs for PACE.
Dr. White has conducted workshops for Churches and training sessions for Chaplains, Social Workers, Nurses, and Behavioral Specialist on grief counseling, Spiritual Self-Care and Spiritual Care for the aging and dying.
